RRB Group D Recruitment 2026 Overview

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) are expected to announce the RRB Group D Result 2026 shortly for 32,438 Level 1 positions. This recruitment drive (CEN 08/2024) aims to fill various Group D posts across Indian Railways. The application process was conducted from 23 January 2025 to 01 March 2025, with CBT examinations held between 27 November 2025 and 16 January 2026. Selected candidates will undergo Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification, and Medical Examination before final appointment.

About Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs)

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) are independent organizations under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, established to recruit staff for Indian Railways. Currently, there are 21 RRBs across India, each catering to specific geographical regions. The boards were first constituted in 1942 as Railway Service Commissions and were reorganized as RRBs in 1985.

RRBs conduct examinations for various non-technical and technical posts in Indian Railways, which is Asia's largest railway network and the world's second-largest under single management. The Group D recruitment is particularly significant as it forms the backbone of railway operations, including track maintenance, station operations, and workshop functions.

The selection process is highly transparent and computerized, with recent recruitments witnessing over 1 crore applications for Group D posts. RRBs follow strict reservation policies as per government norms and provide equal opportunities to candidates from all sections of society.

Eligibility Criteria

Matriculation (10th pass) + ITI certificate in relevant trade from NCVT/SCVT or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC)

Selection Process

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): 90-minute objective test with negative marking
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Physical endurance tests as specified
3. Document Verification: Original certificate verification
4. Medical Examination: As per railway medical standards

Salary & Benefits

Selected candidates will be placed in Level 1 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix with initial pay of ₹18,000/- plus other allowances:
